''Since when do people around here use bows?'' a young woman asked as she looked at the large shipment of weapons her father had just got in.
''I thought new things would bring in customers,'' a dark haired man said as he started to unpack the boxes. ''Many of them would be interested in archery if anything,''
''Uncle, these are war arrows if I've ever seen them,'' the female said as she picked up the quiver of steel head arrows and withdrew one from the group.
She held it up, allowing the light to catch the arrow head and studied the feathers at the end. She placed it back into the quiver before setting her sites on the bow that lay a few feet away. Atlanta scooped the contraption up and looked to her uncle when she heard him take a breathe before speaking.
''I doubt any of them would know the difference,''he said as a humorous smirk spread across his lips.
''You're awful,''was all she mumbled before looking out of the door and reaching for an arrow.
Just as Atlanta brought the arrow head up to rest on the arrow rest, her uncle cleared his throat.
“That bow has too much weight on it,''he said as he walked over and made a few adjustments.
''What does that mean?'' she questioned before taking back the weapon once more.
''It's the force it takes to pull back the string. Luckily, on these new bows, you can set the weight. I figured that forty pounds was a little more than you could handle,'' he chuckled before walking to the back of the store.
His niece watched him leave before she turned her light brown and cobalt eyes to the tree once more. She let the arrow head sit on the arrow rest once more before pulling back the string. The sudden silver glow of the arrow head went unnoticed by her as she released the string and watched the arrow whiz through the air and hit the base of the tree. Atlanta's eyebrows furrowed when she saw small animals shoot from the tree and scurry away from her.
''Weird....''she mumbled before placing the bow on the counter.
Atlanta rolled up the sleeves of the open black button up shirt that sat on top of her white tank top so the sleeves were up to her elbows. The girl wiped off her faded jeans before aiding her uncle in unpacking the new shipment. She reached up and swiped a strand of her dark brown hair out of her eyes before continuing on with her work.
The extraction of a large quiver of arrows was followed by a pause. The bright shine of the arrow at the base of the tree caught her interest. She slowly stoop and brushed the dust off of her pants as she approached the arrow. She gripped the part of the arrow closest to the target and pulled it out to see the arrow head shining a bright silver color. Atlanta ran her fingertips over the precious metal, a confused stare never leaving her face.
A gasp escaped Atlanta's lips when she heard an eerie sound fill the area. She lowered the arrow to her side and looked around in alarm. Off in the distance, a small dark cloud hovered above the ground before disappearing all together. Atlanta shook her head and took a step back.
''I'm losing it...''she mumbled before retiring back into the weapons shop.
